| Customer Reviews: Amazing Brass = Amazing Hits March 28, 2010 J. Maxwell Fletcher (USA) Aptly titled Amazing Brass is one of the best Canadian Brass CDs of all-time. If you are new to the Brass or just want a great collection of Canadian Brass hits, this CD is for you. The track list covers all the genres that make the Canadian Brass who they are - Baroque hits (the Bach Tocatta & Fugue sounds incredible and is a techinical marvel)jazz & ragtime (Black Bottom Stomp will make you want to get up and dance), Big Band (A Glenn Miller Songbook, Tommy Dorsey Tribute a perfect arrangements), Gershwin (Someone to Watch Over Me is beautifully played) and of course their popular turn with Amazing Grace. Technical precision, highly polished playing and infectious fun! Get it!
New Quintet, New Recording October 25, 2004 Trombonist (hong kong) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Although the Canadian Brass started in the late 70s, the players are changed. The tuba and trombone didn't change, who are tuba- chuck daellenbach, and trombone - gene watts. Trumpet is Stuart Laughton, and flugelhorn is Joe Burgstaller. French horn is Jeff Nelson. The regrouped quintet started off and replyed some of the songs they played before, such as Amazing Grace. The record is the collection of the songs that are played by the new quintet.
