| Customer Reviews: Put down that synthesizer and listen to a real musical instrument! July 27, 2009 J. Penrose (Kelfour's Landing) Music played on some of the greatest, most complicated mechanical devices ever made by humans: The grand multi-rank, multi-manual pipe organ.
There isn't a synth out there that can touch one of these beasts when in the hands of a master. Whether playing the almost-forgotten pop tunes of another era or roaring out the heavy metal of Beethoven or Buxtehude, there simply is no sound like these instruments.
In the hands of a master, each organ has a soul and a unique sound, no two are ever identical so even the same song played on different organs will sound distinct.
Give it a listen and then imagine the time when you could go shopping in quiet elegance with music like this filling the air inside the grand department stores that had some of these organs. It was a more elegant time, long gone but never forgotten.
Another great George Wright disc! June 9, 2009 David E. Illar (Plum Borough, PA USA) I have been a theatre pipe organ enthusiast for over 30 years and Mr. Wright is one of my best favorites. I was very glad to find this CD on Amazon for purchase. I am always searching for any recordings by this maestro of the theatre pipe organ on CD and/or vinyl. George is gone, but his recordings live on.
Outstanding Organ Music January 10, 2004 Philip Wagnon (Schertz, Texas United States) 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
If you enjoy the sounds that the mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ can produce - you'll enjoy this album. George Wright is probably the best ever at mastering the multiple banks of keys and pedals of this complex instrument, and the music is very relaxing and entertaining. The sounds he coaxes out of the Wurlitzer on "Quiet Village" are remarkable. Easily one of his best - excellent on either a small office stereo, or played on a home theater system.
